This 1/4" hose assembly is used:  

 

1) To connect the torch to hose sets that already have “B” fittings on them.

 

2)  To be able to use quick connects on the hose set to quickly change to a different torch.  

 

3) To use the torch in a studio setup where the torch is customer or shop owned, but needs to be moved frequently.

 

4) To use the torch for travel or show purposes where rapid setup/teardown is required.
